more thoughts on sexual harassment

A friend of mine posted this wonderfully eloquent piece on her blog, Talking to Stones, after being inspired by my very first TMI Thursday column and all the comments it generated.

She writes:

A friend posted something on her blog today about an incident of harassment in the workplace. In response, a number of people commented, including a few comments about wearing tight or revealing clothing and how men at work (or elsewhere) responded.

This raised an issue I’ve explored quite a bit in my capacity as an employment law attorney handling hundreds of harassment cases: the issue of what women wear.

[snip]

A woman who wears revealing or tight clothing and then condemns a man for looking, ogling, finding her attractive or sexy, etc., is being hypocritical and deceptive. However, a man who thinks that revealing or tight clothing is a license for him to do whatever he wants is a neanderthal or worse.

Thanks for bringing up a good point. We should all treat eachother with respect. What a wonderful world it would be...
